HISTORY - In March of 1984, the Greensboro branch of the Guilford County Medical Society (now known as Greater Greensboro Society of Medicine) and its Auxiliary (now the Alliance) announced the formation of the Medical Society/Auxiliary Endowment Fund (now Medical Society/Alliance Endowment Fund.) The Auxiliary (Alliance) contributed $5,000, and the Medical Society contributed $10,000 in a combined capital investment of $15,000 to create a permanent and growing endowment fund. March 31, 2019 the fund balance was $402,455.14.
The funds would remain in perpetuity and could be added to by any amount from any source from time to time. Gifts, memorials, bequests, and other donations as well as monies from fundraisers would increase the original investment. The interest from the principal would be available for grants to worthy causes in the community that fall within a health related scope.
